Fed: Pine Gap invaders face jail threat
Five peace activists are facing up to seven years' jail .. for breaking into a top
secret military base in central Australia early today.
The members of the group .. Christians Against All Terrorism .. have been charged by
police at the Pine Gap US-Australian facility .. near Alice Springs.
One of those charged is DONNA MULHEARN .. the former human shield who was abducted
and briefly held by militants in the Iraqi flashpoint city of Fallujah in April last year.
Northern Territory police say three men and two women have been charged with damaging
commonwealth property, trespassing on commonwealth land and unlawfully entering a prohibited
area.
They also face NT charges of unlawfully damaging property .. after allegedly cutting
holes in fences.
Another female activist will be summonsed to face court in Alice Springs next week
.. for obstructing police.
Those charged include Sydney resident MULHEARN .. who's 37 .. 50-year-old JIM DOWLING
from Dayboro near Brisbane .. 51-year-old BRIAN LAW from of Cairns, and Brisbane residents
ADELE GOLDIE .. who's 29 .. and 47-year-old SEAN O'REILLY.
They've been bailed to face the Alice Springs Magistrates Court next Wednesday.
