MEXICO CITY, Sep 9, 2002 (El Economista/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Improving bank authorities' supervision through new technology could help lower bank costs and consequently commissions, said David Murray, Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. In an interview, Murray said that in his experience, making commissions competitive is closely related to improved supervision. Murray, who is participating in an effort to standardize information among the banking institutions of the Asia-Pacific region, said that the Mexican banking system has great expectations for growth over the coming years. He said foreign participation in the local banking system would have a positive effect.
