NSW: Aboriginal actor tells of mother s trauma

High profile Aboriginal actor JUSTINE SAUNDERS says her mother is going through emotional
turmoil in the wake of the government's denial of the term stolen generation.

Ms SAUNDERS has pledged to return her Order of Australia Medal to protest against the
government's comments.

The 47-year-old actress, who was removed from her mother HEATHER as a child, has asked
Democrats Aboriginal Senator ADEN RIDGEWAY to hand in her medal.

She says she's deeply hurt by the government's submission to a Senate inquiry, which
questions the accuracy of the term stolen generation.

Ms SAUNDERS says she was unable to take a phone call from Federal Aboriginal Affairs
Minister JOHN HERRON this morning because she was on the phone to her distraught mother.
