Qld: Queensland road toll rises to seven

BRISBANE, Dec 28 AAP - Queensland's Christmas-New Year road toll has risen to seven,
with the death yesterday of a 19-year-old man in hospital.

Police Sergeant Grant Sprowles of the State Traffic Support Branch said the man had
been critically injured after the car he was in hit a power pole at Bonogin, on the Gold
Coast hinterland, on Christmas Day.

He was taken to Gold Coast Hospital and placed on life support but he failed to respond
and it was turned off yesterday.

A 19-year-old woman also died in an accident near Mitchell in Queensland's south-west yesterday.

A total of 11 people died over the Christmas-New Year road toll period in Queensland last year.
